An existing semi-detached home in the heart of Bondi. A growing family. A need for more space without losing what made the original home worth keeping.

The design adds a contemporary upper level to the existing federation duplex — not to overpower it, but to enter into a dialogue with it. The original sandstone base and street expression are respected and retained. The new addition sits above with a clearly contemporary language — vertical timber screens, clean lines, considered materiality — honest about what it is and when it was built, while remaining in harmony with its neighbour and its street.
